Neighborhood spotlight: Port Spencer on Old Hickory Lake. Port Spencer sits on a peninsula off Burton Road, on the Mt. Juliet side of Old Hickory Lake. Streets include Pointview Circle and Burton Point Road. Several homes here are lakefront, and some have existing dock permits from the Corps of Engineers. If you are looking here, check these on each house: Is the lot lakefront, or does it have a view only? Is there a dock, and is the permit current? A Corps shoreline permit does not transfer, so a new owner applies for one in their own name. What shoreline class is next to the lot? The seller can ask the Corps for a realtor letter that shows it. Frontage and docks change from one house to the next, even on the same street. That is why I look at the specific address, not just the neighborhood name.
